Homes Stuff I Love, Adore, Rate & Recommend

WALL MURAL SURFACEVIEW Dandy Spoons Roomset Table Mural crop ANG0018I Love… The Kitsch and Fun Wall Art

I’ve just been writing a feature about all the new wall looks and trends for every room in the home, and I really can’t believe how much amazing stuff is out there. I need at least 50 rooms to try out each one! A sneak preview of my feature includes the Dandy Spoons with Butterfly Bow Ties wall mural from Surface View.

West Elm PlatesI Adore… The Fun Time at the Dining Table

West Elm is a really clever and very stylish homes shop that came over from the US a couple of years ago, and it’s products are available at it’s London flagship store and online at westelm.com. Amongst the many exciting ideas and lifestyle options, are these absolutely adorable dinner plates from designer Rachel Kozlowski, £9 each. Bagsy the Badger!

WD Gentlemen's Club - Albany Collection - £22.99 per rollI Recommend… The Surprise Style Wallpaper

In my early-Victorian country cottage there’s a small, north-facing room which we call The Snug – real fire, beams, lattice windows, wooden floorboards, and not much light. It’s been painted white ever since we moved in, to make it look bigger and brighter, but now I’m thinking it’s time to be more adventurous, luxurious and oooooh!  Luckily I’ve just discovered this amazing wallpaper – black with gold metallic highlights to help reflect light, that I think should work wonders. Buy it from wallpaperdirect.com  The Snug also doubles as The Poker/Games/Cocktails Room so it should be perfect…

Abigail Ahern / EditionI Adore… The Playful Take on Grandeur

Abigail Ahern has long been a favourite designer of mine – fun, quirky and moody pieces that fit into any home decor. Since she collaborated with Debenhams her pieces have become accessible to the masses. This I-Love-It-Must-Have-It Ram’s Bust Head from her new AW/14 collection will soon be winging (or should that be gambolling?!) on to my sideboard. At £85 – it’s a done deal. Baaah!

M&S BeddingI LOVE… The Sumptuous New Bedlinen

Yes, I know it’s too hot to be covered up with duvets etc right now, but soon as the chill starts in a few months, this is the bedding I want. Who’d have thunk it’s from good old M&S. Sophisticated, elegant, and cheap-ish, too. Prices for the Floral Feast bed set start from a v reasonable £59.

The Astrid Garden Chair, £698

The Astrid Garden Chair, £698

I RATE… The Über Cool Garden Chair

No deckchairs for me please. Love their Britishness, their retro cool but cor-blimey they really hurt my back! Instead I’ve found this rather fantabulous garden chair from Anthropologie. Currently it’s called the Astrid Garden Chair, however in my garden it’s now renamed The Jules Chair. £698, but it will be around for decades to come.

I Recommend… The Black Trend for Walls

Another effortlessly fabulous interior look is black. For that moody, Period/Contemporary colour scheme then I’d definitely go for the dark side. If only my cottage had high ceilings, big rooms etc etc… I’d be painting the lounge or dining room in this magnificent paint shade. It’s Little Greene’s Jack Black (119) Absolute Matt .

Verona Sofa £499

I Love… The Indigo Blue Deco Look

Out and about in London recently attending various Homes/Interiors Press Events, which showcase all that’s new, trending, and sometimes fabulous, for Autumn Winter 2014. First of my favourites is the hot trend for Moody Blues – from cobalt to indigo, it’s on walls, furnishings and accessories. This divine picture comes courtesy of Sainsbury’s – yes, believe it! The Verona two-seater sofa costs £499.

Metallic Penguin Lamp, £85

Metallic Penguin Lamp, £85

I RATE… The Chicest Home Accessories Designer
If there was one interior designer I’d love to be able to afford to do-over my home it’s Abigail Ahern. I’ve long lusted after her quirky design and products on her website especially her lamps with amazing kitsch shades. So I’m mighty pleased indeedy that she’s just launched an interiors range at Debenhams (which I was lucky enough to see at their preview show back in April) – how long will it be until I can’t resist buying the Metallic Penguin Lamp to grace one of my tables I wonder!

Plus, Plus, Plus! Abigail has turned her hand to food and also launched The Larder on her own website – a range of delish ingredients sourced from the south of France (one of my fave holiday destinations because of the food and du vin) – I’m just about to pop the Salt with Parmesan and Basil into my online trolley!

I LOVE… The Quirky Wall Art Look
Pinterest and Etsy – two of my major daily obsessions – brought to my attention these two fantastic illustrators:  Ashley Goldberg, etsy.com/shop/ashleyg and Anna Wright  annawright.co.uk

I bought two of Ashley’s: ‘We’re Going to Be Fancy Today’ for me, and ‘How Does She Always Look So Pulled Together’ for a friend’s birthday present. They really are adorable and all individually signed. And a bargain at just under £13 each.

Anna Wright’s gorgeous animal prints are so whimsical – I can’t help but smile just looking at them. I already have the ‘Friday Night’ print, and my latest want for a Christmas/Birthday/Just-Because present is ’Midlife Crisis’. Just genius!
